Is OLLI at Penn State closing its York office? 

No—OLLI at Penn State is not closing its York office. While the Penn State Board of Trustees has approved the closure of the Penn State York campus following the 2026–27 academic year, OLLI at Penn State will continue in York beyond that transition. Penn State Outreach leadership has reaffirmed that OLLI is in York to stay.  

Where will the OLLI York office be located in the future?

The Penn State York campus will remain open until the end of the 2026–27 academic year, and OLLI at Penn State will continue operating there during that time. In the meantime, OLLI at Penn State and Penn State Outreach are working together to identify a long-term office location in the York community. Although the exact future site has yet to be determined, there is a firm commitment to maintaining a presence in York. 

Is Penn State committed to supporting OLLI at Penn State’s presence in York? 

Yes. OLLI at Penn State operates within Penn State Outreach across multiple locations, including Harrisburg, University Park, and York. This means OLLI operations are centralized and are not tied to the Penn State York campus itself.

Even with the planned closure of the York campus, University leadership, including President Neeli Bendapudi, has emphasized that Penn State’s engagement with community programs like OLLI will continue. This ensures OLLI’s mission, presence, and programming will remain supported in York well into the future.  

Are there OLLI courses I can register for right now? 

Yes. OLLI at Penn State offers year-round programming, and community members can continue to register for upcoming courses in York, Harrisburg, and University Park, as well as online.  

Will OLLI courses be offered in York in the summer? 

OLLI at Penn State fully intends to continue offering learning opportunities in York throughout the year, including in the summer and fall. While specific plans for upcoming terms are still being developed, OLLI’s long history of year‑round programming, including previous summer sessions and seasonal course offerings, reflects a strong commitment to maintaining a vibrant schedule, and this will continue to be our goal as we move through the transition period. 

Will OLLI membership benefits change? 

No. Your membership benefits will continue uninterrupted. OLLI at Penn State provides all members with access to courses, travel, special events and volunteer opportunities across three locations: Harrisburg, University Park, and York. Because OLLI at Penn State, and its presence in York, is supported by Penn State Outreach and driven by strong volunteer leadership, member benefits remain secure and stable.
