People think of rock ‘n roll when Cleveland is mentioned, but we’re here to tell you the city offers so much more! Our two-night OLLI trip includes a satisfying blend of structured stops at the beginning and end of the trip with free time in between for attendees to explore on their own.

We’re staying in the heart of the University Circle at the boutique Glidden House hotel on the campus of Case Western Reserve University. University Circle is the country’s most concentrated area of medical, educational, and cultural institutions within one square mile. The Glidden House (of Glidden paint fame) is a beautiful historical mansion built in 1910. It features comfortable bedrooms, cozy spaces for socializing indoors and outdoors, friendly staff, original art throughout the hotel, a clean environment, and a superb breakfast that is a cut above.

Trip Highlights

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at night
Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame

Dropping the needle on a $135 million expansion that will be completed in 2026, the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame with its 7 levels is dedicated to honoring the artists, producers, engineers, and other figures who influenced the development of rock music. It includes exhibits on the roots of rock ‘n roll: gospel, blues, rhythm & blues, folk, country, and bluegrass. Get your groove on with the likes of Elvis Presley, James Brown, Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel, and many other talented people in this industry that continue to rock on.

The inside of West Side Market crowded with shoppers
West Side Market

Very close to the hotel is Cleveland’s Little Italy, a charming neighborhood hot spot for award-winning cuisine in a number of back-to-back restaurants. Or step out of Glidden House and experience the French restaurant L’Albatros or any number of other city restaurants.

West Side Market is a National Historic Landmark that is home to more than 60 vendors, offering fresh meats, cheeses, poultry, seafood, fruits and vegetables, baked goods, spices, prepared foods, and flowers. The market offers a shopping experience that remains nearly unchanged since first opening its doors more than 100 years ago. Enjoy shopping there and having a meal at the market or at a nearby restaurant.
