As we close out 2023, I would like to share a bit of our success and growth. With our current strategic plan coming to an end this month, I spent much of this past year reflecting on our history, current state, and potential future — and I must say that our future is looking bright!
As many of you know, we held multiple focus group sessions this past spring and summer, providing an opportunity for OLLI members to share what they appreciate most about OLLI, what we should protect or maintain, and what we could add or supplement as we built our new strategic plan. We were pleased to hear that OLLI courses are still at the core of our organization as the number one item that members appreciate most about their OLLI membership. In fact, registration for our fall 2023 semester was the highest we have had since 2020. While courses were the highest-rated portion of an OLLI membership, travel and social opportunities came in closely behind. Together, this trifecta is truly what makes our organization so special! I will be sharing more about our strategic plan in early 2024.
This winter, I encourage you to find a way to engage with OLLI. You will find that while most of this catalog’s offerings are online courses, there are a few in-person and hybrid options as well. In addition to courses, perhaps this is the time to try out a new Special Interest Group (SIG), join a social gathering, or volunteer with one of our many committees. As with everything at OLLI, you choose your path, time commitment, and degree of involvement.
As always, please feel free to reach out to any member of the OLLI staff with any questions or concerns (olli@psu.edu or 814-867-4278).
