Summer Fun with the OLLI Social Committee

Stay connected with your fellow OLLI members this summer!  The OLLI social committee has been busy planning a wide variety of activities to keep members engaged and entertained.

Some events are still in the planning stages. Stay tuned for additional information announced in our weekly newsletters or check the Events page!

Spikes Game: Join fellow OLLI members and guests for the Spikes’ opening home game against West Virginia on June 7, followed by a fireworks display. We will sit together and purchase our tickets online from their website.

Cheers to Art: Bring your friends and enjoy a fun evening, finding the artistic talent that you didn’t know that you had! A canvas, brushes, and acrylic paints will be provided, along with step-by-step instructions to create a painting for you to take home. The evening will be designated as a fundraiser for OLLI, which will receive $5 for every participant. Information will be shared in our weekly newsletters.

Salad and Pie in the Park: Last year’s event at Spring Creek Park was such a success that we knew that we had to repeat it! Volunteers bring their favorite salads (all varieties) and pies (desserts), and other OLLI members pay $10 for rental of the pavilion, soft drinks, and supplies.

Dinner and a Movie: These events have been very popular and are dependent upon the right movies shown locally. You can choose to attend either or both. RSVP is required to attend the dinner so the restaurant can be prepared. Great way to get out and meet new friends who belong to OLLI!

Sing-Along Summer Afternoon at a Local Winery: OLLI members will be accompanied by professional musician(s), lyrics provided. Snacks and drinks are available on a lazy summer afternoon.

Games at IGAR: Join other OLLI members who enjoy playing games and learn how to play some new ones. IGAR Games is located on Martin Street in State College, has a lot of games to choose from, and the owner does a great job of explaining the rules.
