The Development Committee is responsible for developing, and assisting with the implementation of, a fundraising plan that: 1) is aligned with OLLI’s strategic plan and development priorities; and 2) fosters sustainability of the organization for future generations.
Fundraising plans must be approved by both the OLLI director and director of development for Penn State Outreach and Online Education (OOE).
Role of the Development Committee Chair
- Work with the director to schedule meetings and develop meeting agendas
- Preside over committee meetings
- Communicate with committee members in-between meetings when necessary
- Assist the director with writing the development plan
- Provide committee reports to OLLI’s Leadership Council and Advisory Board and seek their input on development plans and initiatives
- Consult with the OOE development director as needed
Role of the OLLI Director
- Schedule meetings and meeting rooms
- Work with the chair to develop and disseminate meeting agendas
- Ensure meeting minutes are taken and disseminated
- Write the development plan that is created by the committee
- Represent the development plan to Penn State leaders for input and approval
- Work with marketing to create development deliverables (brochures; videos, etc.)
- Ensure all development initiatives follow Penn State policies and procedures
- Consult with the OOE development director as needed
Role of the OOE Development Director
- Periodically meet with the OLLI Development Committee to provide assistance and advice, and to apprise them of new Penn State development policies and procedures.
- Ensure processes for receiving gifts are in place
- Ensure gifts are recorded and acknowledged
- Assist with development deliverables (brochures; videos, etc.)
- Meet with prospective benefactors as needed
